Take a Class
Creative Journeys: Art Classes with Karima Cammell
Welcome to a new chapter in our creative adventure together! New opportunities to meet on ZOOM.
Whether you're signing up for one-on-one private lessons or joining our free group classes, these sessions are an invitation to explore, and discover new ways of creating.
Private Lessons: A Compass for Your Creative Path
Together, we’ll navigate your personal goals—whether it’s diving into watercolor, crafting a game plan for next steps, sharpening your drawing skills, or unearthing a new project. Each session is just for you.
Free Group Classes: A Gathering of Makers
Sundays at 10am pacific time! The free group classes are our campfire—a place for community, shared inspiration, and a spark of something unexpected. These sessions will cover the basics of drawing and watercolor, woven into playful projects that invite everyone to join in, no matter your experience level. Though the classes are free, they’re rooted in intention and care, and I ask that you come ready to participate, as your presence shapes the circle we create.
Signing Up: Setting the Table for Creativity
I ask that you sign up for any classes you plan to attend. This allows me to better prepare ideas, and feedback so that we can make the most of our time together. I’m using an automated scheduling app for the first time so expect hiccups. Juggling technology is a challenge for all of us, but I trust we can make it work.
Materials: Gather What You Have, Improvise What You Don’t
I keep the materials list simple and accessible. If special supplies are needed, I’ll let you know well ahead of time. But remember: art is alchemy. I strongly believe in making something from nothing—so if you’re missing a particular tool, improvise! See full materials list below.
I’m excited to witness what you bring to life. Let’s make some magic!
See you soon!
Materials List for Art Classes
Here’s what you’ll need for class. I keep the list simple, with room to improvise. Feel free to use what you have, and I’ll always give advance notice if we’ll need something specific.
Essential Supplies:
- Watercolor Set: Pan or tubes. Your choice. I recommend the small Cotman’s Travel Set, but any set will do. Must-have colors: Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, and Ultramarine Blue.
- White Gouache in Tube
- Watercolor Brushes: The Princeton Snap Set is a good starter option. Aim for a mix of: 1/2-inch flat brush, #3 round brush, #6 round brush or similar
- Old Toothbrush
- Scrubby Brushes: A small (1/4-1/2”) and a large (1-2”) boar bristle brush (similar to an oil painting or Chip brush).
- Watercolor Paper: 11x14 or larger, 140lb Cold Press cotton paper. Any paper that can handle water and scrubbing will work. Arches and Fabriano are ideal but expensive. Strathmore mixed media paper is also a good choice.
- Plain Paper: Standard 8.5x11 copier paper.
- Tracing Paper: Canson brand is best for its transparency.
- Water Cup: For rinsing brushes.
